The Tamale High Court has barred Dr. Mahama Tia Kabiru from acting as the NPP's parliamentary candidate for Walewale, following a challenge by incumbent MP Hajia Lariba Zuweratu.
She alleged electoral irregularities after narrowly losing to Dr. Kabiru in January.
Despite the NPP's attempt to dismiss the case, the court granted the injunction.
The dispute, unresolved internally, prompted NPP supporters to seek intervention from the party's Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, fearing it could harm the party's chances in the upcoming general elections.
