‘There’s nothing to be stayed’ – Defeamekpor on SC halting Speaker Bagbin’s declaration of 4 seats vacant

South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has voiced the NDC caucus's concerns regarding the Supreme Court's decision to stay Speaker Alban Bagbin's declaration that four parliamentary seats were vacant.

Dafeamekpor argued that the Supreme Court erred in its ruling, which allows the MPs to continue their duties while the case is pending.

He criticized the court for issuing an ex parte order that should not remain effective beyond nine days, contending that Speaker Bagbin merely provided information to Parliament rather than issuing a binding ruling.

He emphasized that the Speaker's communication was not executable and questioned the legitimacy of the court's intervention.
