John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has urged African leaders to address the growing challenges undermining democratic governance across the continent.
Speaking at the Nigerian Bar Association’s 64th Annual General Conference, Mahama highlighted a worrying trend from an Afrobarometer survey showing increased disillusionment with democracy among Ghanaian youth, with some even favoring military rule.
He shared alarming statistics, including the declining trust in Ghana's democratic institutions, with 83% believing the country is heading in the wrong direction.
Mahama emphasized the urgency for leaders to make critical decisions to restore faith in democracy.
