One of the leading presidential candidates in this year’s Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Students Representative Council election, Joseph Rexford Bonney, has secured the endorsement of the Junior Common Room of the Unity Hall, popularly known as Continental.
Joseph Bonney has the difficult task of defeating three others, one of whom is Samuel Sesah – a one-time presidential candidate, to succeed Adu-Baah Charles.
In an endorsement statement from the JCR of the Unity Hall, they described the foundation of the current state of the SRC as weak and recommended Joseph Bonney, who is a resident of the hall, as the remedy.
We believe that, in the light of the current state of the KNUST SRC, where the foundation of genuine student advocacy and representation is weakening, there is the need for us to give the mandate of student leadership and service to people who are committed to BUILDING an SRC that yearns to put every student first,” part of the statement reads.
They are urging students of the University to rally behind the third year Telecommunication Engineering student and his running mate, Silas Opoku Boakye, in their quest to build the SRC.
The 2020 KNUST SRC election is scheduled for Thursday, March 26.
Meanwhile, the University Hall (Katanga) has announced its support for Samuel Sesah in the election.
