Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Abena Osei-Asare, has affirmed the government's commitment to improving tax compliance and efficiency in Ghana's tax system.
Speaking at the 12th Annual International Tax Conference, she emphasized the government's focus on enhancing the collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) and excise duties as part of its Medium-Term Revenue Strategy.
Osei-Asare highlighted that the government aims to increase revenue without raising taxes by targeting better compliance and reducing inefficiencies.
Meanwhile, Tax Analyst Francis Timore Boi suggested building consensus on reintroducing VAT on electricity at a lower rate than the previously proposed 15%.
