Dr. Kwabena Donkor, Ranking Member of Parliament’s Employment, Social Welfare, and State Enterprises Committee, has criticized the Supreme Court’s decision to block Speaker Alban Bagbin from declaring four parliamentary seats vacant.
He argued that the Court’s reasoning, which highlighted the need for continuous representation to avoid leaving constituents unrepresented, was politically motivated.
Dr. Donkor pointed out the ongoing disenfranchisement of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) residents, who have lacked representation since 2020.
He questioned the judiciary’s impartiality, calling the ruling “political, not legal,” and criticized it as flawed given Parliament’s upcoming recess.
