Former Finance Minister Seth Terkper has expressed mixed feelings about Ghana's debt forgiveness, questioning the legacy of repeated debt forgiveness.
While acknowledging the short-term relief, he worried about the long-term implications, comparing it to the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative.
He recalled that the NDC government had anticipated debt default and put measures in place, but things haven't gone as planned.
Terkper's concerns echoed those of banking consultant Dr. Richmond Atuahene, who warns against relying on foreign funds and perpetuating a cycle of borrowing.
