“We will jealously protect our new majority status” – Ato Forson

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to protect its newly claimed Majority status in Ghana’s Parliament, following Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four parliamentary seats vacant, three of which belonged to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This move shifted the NDC’s seat count to 136, surpassing the NPP's 135.

However, the Supreme Court intervened, ordering a stay on the Speaker's ruling, allowing the affected MPs to retain their roles temporarily.

Despite the court's ruling, NDC leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson asserted the party’s intention to defend its majority and resist any interference.
