The BlueCrest University College, a leading private university in Ghana, has held its 17th graduation ceremony at the Ghana Academy of Arts & Sciences.
The graduation ceremony was attended by government officials and other high profile personalities such as the Deputy Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Honourable Tina Mensah; Head of Joy Business, Mrs. Odelia Ntiamoah; Group General Manager, Melcom Group, Mr. Francis Sam; and seasoned broadcaster with the EIB Group, Ms. Serwaa Amihere, also saw 98 graduands from the School of Technology, School of Business and Communication, and School of Fashion and Design graduating with different classes.
Delivering his keynote address, the Guest of Honour for the occasion, Dr. Prince Kofi Kludjeson, Chief Executive Officer of the Celltel Telecommunication Limited, charged students to venture into entrepreneurship if they want to experience true financial freedom. He said the world is a big platform full of opportunities with many of such opportunities untapped.
“Don't feel limited by the challenges that confront you today. Stay above these challenges and be motivated by the quest to succeed and fight to win. Though the road is not always smooth as one may expect, there is always a success when one perseveres” he intimated.
He further admonished the graduands to leverage the advantages of technology to drive their agenda for success. ‘Today, countries like India are making it so well because they are using a lot of technical skills to enhance their personal growth as well as drive their developmental agenda’, he said.
The president of the BlueCrest University College, Dr. Anand Agrawal, on his part, highlighted some of the bold initiatives taken by the college to ensure that the institution maintains its status as one of the leading private universities in Ghana and the West Africa Region.
‘At Bluecrest, our approach to teaching and learning is premised on the principle of enhancing the leadership, innovative, technological, and entrepreneurial skills of students to become industry ready and become change-makers who will lead and drive the developmental agenda of the respective countries they are coming from', he stressed.
He again intimated that the college’s skills-based approach to the training of students is a model that has yielded positive fruits with many of the alumni of the institution now working with some of the leading brands across Africa.
‘Today, the industry is looking for people with a blend of skills and knowledge and at Bluecrest College, our mission has been consistent with what the industry requires by training students to fill the yawning gap of human resource in key industries like the media, technology, and fashion’, he emphasized.
Rosina Naab, a graduating student from the School of business and communication who was also elected the first-ever female Student Council President emerged as the valedictorian for the 2021 cohorts of the graduating group.
The event also witnessed the inauguration of the College’s Industry Advisory Board comprising leading media experts, experienced bankers, information and technology experts. The aim of forming the board is to bridge the gap between industry and academia, and mentor students and staff to regularly develop their skills as per industry requirements.
Members of the Advisory Board comprises Foster Awintiti Akugri, Head of Youth Banking, Stanbic Bank; Frederica Brooksworth, Executive Director of the Council for International African Fashion Education (CIAFE); Odelia Ntiamoah, Head, Joy Business, Multimedia Group; Sylvia Inkoom, Deputy Managing Director, UBA Ghana and Dr. Prince Kojo Kludjeson (Honorary Member) CEO, CELLTEL.
