The Fashion Connect Africa Model Bootcamp which is an initiative of renowned top model and entrepreneur, Victoria Michaels, (who is also the Chief Inspiration Officer of the runway show event, Fashion Connect Africa) was outdoored and launched on Thursday, 30th September 2021 at the Alisa Hotel North Ridge, Accra Ghana.

It was actually hosted by Kwabutey the MC with the opening prayer being said by Pastor Gabby Ibe of the Revelation Church.

Being the first of its kind in Africa for models and creatives, the much-anticipated event will start from 22nd and continue through to 23rd October, 2021. The goal is to create an inspiring environment for models across Africa, in order to provide them with skills and global career best practices.

This means empowering the models with additional skills to generate multiple streams of income, preparing them for global modeling opportunities, cultural shocks and social diversities, tutorials on creating Z-Cards and portfolios, photoshop tips, a masterclass on the importance of having the right management, placement, and agency, educating models on the importance of pre-audition and casting preparations as well as capacity building on the importance of 360 grooming.

While speaking at the launch, Victoria Michaels said clearly “I sort of feel that my industry, the models in Ghana need to be told how it’s done, the global best practices of their craft, because if you don’t know, you can’t put it to work”, she remarked. Actually, the programs for the models boot camp are designed to mitigate some of the challenges models face in our part of the world such as lack of career sustainability due to limited opportunities.

In a nutshell, the Fashion Connect Africa Model Bootcamp 2021 platform will offer amazing opportunities for models to gainfully monetize their craft on a consistent basis. The FCA believes that these talents can be nurtured, empowered, and deployed with both the right mind and skill set for generating multiple streams of income.

According to the Ghanaian-Nigerian international model, the entrepreneurship training will be centered on evolving models from being just models into both entrepreneurs, as she rightly puts it “modelpreneurs” and professionals with requisite skills. The idea is to show the models how to move from being a model to an entrepreneur and more.

She stated that it’s her experiences and lessons she learned from her sojourn overseas and being part of such programs that inspired her to create this platform to change the narrative for younger and upcoming models.

Amongst other celebrity models and guests who graced the occasion with their presence include Pastor Gabby Ibe of the Revelation Church with his beautiful wife Ayesha Bedwei Ibe, Amy of Afromod Trends, Gisela Gagakuma of Giselle fashion brand; Model and Beauty Queen, Abena Akuaba; Julee Boccum Djoulde; Khris the Diva, Nana Tamakloe, Yemmy Baba, and so on.

This amazing event is powered by VM Consult Ltd, sponsors include Uber, Melcom, Green 8 Capital, Coca-Cola, Goldcard Resources and Belaqua Mineral Water with support from New Africa Foundation, Maybelline & Sincerely by Menaye.
