Inauguration of Ahafo regional Lands Commission regional office

In accordance with Article 260(1) of the 1992 constitution which provides that “the Lands Commission shall have a branch in each region to be known as Regional Lands Commission for the performance of the functions specified in article 258 of this constitution", the inauguration of the Ahafo Lands Commission Regional Office took place today, 7th April 2022 to fulfill this Constitutional mandate.

The chairman of the occasion, Nana Ansah Adu -Baah, Omanhene of Ahafo, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the government and Management of the Commission for bringing their services close to the people of Ahafo to ensure efficient and effective land administration in the region hence avoiding and resolving land disputes.

He urged stakeholders and the general public to live in harmony and cooperate with the Commission in the Region to ensure an effective Land Administration System.

Mr. James Dadson, The Ag. Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, applauded the traditional leaders in the Region for welcoming the Commission. He tasked staff to work diligently to provide efficient and quality services to the people to earn their trust.

Mr. Alex Quaynor, Chairman of the National Lands Commission, in his address, hinted that the Regional Office is going to start operations in a purely digital environment which will help achieve speed and reduce the usual delays associated with the processing documents in a manual environment.

He also entreated members of staff to collaborate with the key stakeholders and other agencies to foster development in the Region.

The Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Benito Owusu- Bio, also touched on the government’s decision to decentralize government initiatives, policies and information to all parts of the country thus the establishment of a Regional Office.

Hon. Benito also highlighted the functions of the Commission and the importance of land registration. He assured the people of Ahafo that, the Lands Commission is there to work, and thus the General Public should take advantage and frequent the office for all inquiries on land-related issues.

The Acting Regional Lands Officer of the region, Mr. Joseph Abakah Arthur expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders and assured them that his team would deliver customer satisfactory services to the good people. He called on the public and other agencies to work hand-in-hand with the commission to deliver on its core mandate in the region

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Tibung Lana Abdullah Abubakar, Ag. Director, SMD, Mr. Maxwell Adu-Nsafoah, Technical Director, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, The Clergy, the Deputy Chief Imam, other government agencies, Regional Board Members, and other Management members.
