The Shakers and Movers Educational Foundation USA-Ghana; a leading International NGO has for almost a year been championing efforts to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged but young future leaders at the Happy Family Shelter.

After having successfully completed the first phase of the trilogy of support which saw the painting of the four bedrooms of the orphaned children, installation of ceiling fans to enhance ventilation, and the laying of floor carpets (linoleum) in all four bedrooms- the SAME Foundation progressed by taking an eminent step to respond to another urgent need of the facility.

On the 16th of October, the foundation under the leadership of Dr. Rixon O. Campbell (President) and Mr. Al-Hassan Kodwo Baidoo (Chairman) among other leading executives mobilized resources from among its members and also from other philanthropists and friends of the Foundation to address another pressing challenge of the facility.

SAME Foundation supported the facility with ten (10) bunk beds with mattresses to enhance the sleeping comfort of the children at the cost of Ghc 15,000. This donation was timely as the facility was devastated by a cruel flood and as a result had caused great inconveniences for the children.

At the presentation ceremony, the children, volunteers, and caregivers were all treated to a sumptuous Ghana Jollof and chicken party with some sweet melodies in the background to coordinate the eating activities. In his interaction with the children, Dr Rixon O. Campbell told the children to understand that there was nothing free in this life.

Likening our donations to them to the occasion when Jesus Christ fed the multitude with two loaves of bread and five fishes, Dr Campbell pointed to the fact that Jesus didn’t conjure the bread and fish from space but took it from a boy. In effect, someone paid for the bread and fish which Jesus blessed to feed the multitude. Dr. Campbell challenged the children to make it intentional to grow and become kind adults who will also give back to society.

Mr Al-Hassan Kodwo Baidoo, the Chairman, during his interactions with the gathering pleaded with the children especially to put value to what they receive from the public. While he cautioned the public not to see orphanage homes as a dumping site for their waste materials, he advised the children and the caregivers against the “problems of getting mindset”, which he said does not make people put value to things.

The Orphanage under the patronage of Ms Gifty Annan was grateful to the foundation for its continued support and for acting promptly whenever it’s called upon. She assured Chairman Baidoo, that the items received were going to be put to great use and maintained for as long as they could.

SAME Foundation pledged and reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the lives of children through its future programs and initiatives. The Same Men of Valour and Same Women of Substance Mentoring and grooming program; one of such programs to be introduced seeks to empower these young minds and equip them with the requisite soft skills and values needed to be a fit-for-purpose adult in a fast-changing global environment.

Mr Al-Hassan Kodwo Baidoo also used the opportunity to thank every single donor who donated towards the procurement of the beds and mattresses. He also appealed to benevolent sister CSOs, NGO’s, Charities, Philanthropic Organizations and even the government to support and partner in its quest to transform the lives of the next generation of future leaders.

The SAME Foundation is also calling on volunteers especially a professional grant writer to help fast-track the efforts of securing a sustainable source of funding for the NGO.
