The Africa Women Cup of Nations weekend matches

The 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations is in full swing and this year’s competition is being hosted by Morocco. There are 12 countries participating in this year’s Women’s AFCON and the teams were put into three groups of four teams each for the Group Stage matches of the tournament.

Host nation Morocco played the first match of the tournament against Burkina Faso in Group A, the match kick-off on Saturday the second and saw Morocco beating Burkina Faso with 1 goal to 0. Sunday saw three of the group stage matches taking place. Senegal played Uganda in the second Group A match of the weekend which ended with Senegal winning the match 2-0.

The other two matches on Sunday were Group B matches; Zambia and Cameroon drew their match and Tunisia beat Togo with 3 goals with the final score of match 4-1. The odds on all of the remaining AFCON Women’s matches are available at bet way.

The Group C matches took place on Monday where South Africa’s Banyana Banyana shocked current Women’s AFCON title holders Nigeria by beating them 2-1. The second match of Group C saw Botswana beating Burundi 4-2 after the final whistle. The football action continued on Tuesday when the teams of Group A clashed again. Tuesday saw Senegal beating Burkina Faso 1-0 and host nation Morocco edging out Uganda by winning the match 3-1.

The She-polopolo played their second match in Group B against Tunisia on Wednesday, they managed to win the game 1-0 putting them in the lead of their group with one point. The other match in Group B ended in a draw with one goal each for Cameroon and Togo.

Thursday will be the second Group C match as South Africa takes on Burundi and Nigeria takes on Botswana a few hours later.

Matchday 3 of 3, the last of the group stage matches will be played over this weekend. All the matches will be played at the same time on the day. Group A matches see Morocco vs Senegal and Burkina Faso against Uganda on Friday. Saturday sees the Group B matches taking place with Cameroon taking on Tunisia and the Copper Queens facing Togo.

The last of the group stage matches sees South Africa taking on Botswana and Burundi vs Nigeria. The quarter-finals will be played on Wednesday and Thursday over the coming week with the semi-finals taking place on the 18th. The final to decide which team will be the best women’s team in Africa will be played on the 22nd of July.
