The Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly has donated 2,700 nose masks to the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association and the Kaneshie Driver’s Association.
Presenting the items at separate meetings, Madam Mariama Karley Amui, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly, urged the leadership of the associations to sensitise their members on the safety protocols of the COVID-19.
She said the overcrowding situation among the spare parts dealers was a concern to the Assembly and urged the leadership of the Associations to enforce the wearing of nose masks and social distancing among their members.
Madam Amui warned that if the members of the associations fail to adhere to the protective protocol it would not hesitate to close down the area and urged the leadership to adopt a shift system for their members.
Mr Clement Boateng, the Co-chairman of the Spare Parts Dealers Association, expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the gesture and gave the assurance that the items would be given to the intended recipients.
He commended the Assembly for its continuous public education on health activities.
Mr Samuel Boadu, the Chairman of the Kaneshie Drivers Association, also thanked the Assembly for the donation.
He said the Association has put in place measures to protect passengers from contracting the coronavirus by ensuring that the people adhere to the social distancing, wearing of nose masks, washing of hands and the use of sanitizers.
Mr Boadu said the executives also have been very vigilant on passengers as they take their personal data to assist in any event of contact tracing.
