Kumasi, Nov 17, GNA - Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, immediate past president of Youth in Action, a coalition of youth groups in Kumasi, has called on individuals and organisations to collaborate efforts to maintain the Amakom Children's Park and Library

He expressed regret that the facility, which was built with the taxpayer's money to serve as a recreational and learning centre for children was in a deplorable state.

Odeneho Appiah who was speaking at a forum organised by 'Dekyi Kroye Kuo', a social club at Asafo in Kumasi, at the weekend said the facility had become a den for thieves and drug addicts and a place for church services and funeral celebrations.

He said the development was an eye sore adding: "This state of affairs has turned to discourage rather than attract children to patronise the facility for which it was established.''

As his contribution towards providing a more serene environment for children to read, Odeneho Appiah announced plans to personally establish four community libraries in the Subin constituency before the end of next year.

He said his friends in Italy would support the programme that would be launched in March 2004.
