Operations have been suspended in Bawku by officials from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) due to ongoing security concerns in the area.
Since the resurgence of conflict, these officials have not reported to work, leaving water and electricity issues unresolved.
Although heavy gunfire has stopped, sporadic shooting at night continues to heighten tensions.
Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has urged calm and reassured the public that the government is addressing the situation.
Additionally, the Chief Justice has ordered the closure of courts in the Upper East Region for security reasons, and the Agricultural Development Bank has temporarily closed its Bawku branch.
