The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Amenfi East Constituency in the Western Region, Mr. Nicolas Amankwah has distributed some preventive items to some traders in the Wassa Akropong to stem the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic in the area.
The items donated include; 1,000 nose masks, 1,000 alcoholic-based hand sanitizers and liquid soaps.
Speaking to Daniel Kaku after the gesture, the NDC Parliamentary candidate Mr. Nicolas Amankwah urged the traders to strictly adhere to the World Health Organization (WHO) and Ghana Health Service preventive measures to contain the spread of the killer Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
"We all have heard much about this deadly pandemic call Coronavirus or COVID-19 which is a global threat to humanity. As being told by our health professionals by constantly hand sanitizing and frequently washing the hand with soap under running water, covering your nose or mouth when coughing or sneezing and avoiding crowd", he emphasized.
He, therefore, added that, "Today I want to reiterate the President's call of wearing nose masks to prevent the spread of this deadly virus. Please let's wear these nose masks I am presenting to you today anytime to protect yourself and orders from the virus".
Mr. Amankwah commended them for observing social distancing protocol in the market and urged them to continue with it.
"I am very happy to see you observing social distance hear to curtail the spread."
He took the opportunity to call on all residents of Amenfi East to join the fight against this fast-spread virus devoid of partisan politics.
"Let's all together fight this virus rootlessly because the virus do not know any political colours, religion or tribe, he pleaded.
He also disclosed to Daniel Kaku of extending the gesture to other markets within the municipality and all government institutions within the municipality.
The beneficiary traders expressed their happiness and thanked the NDC 2020 Parliamentary candidate for the area for remembering them in this global crisis.
The parliamentary candidate was accompanied by some Constituency Executives of the party.
So far, Amenfi East has not recoreded any case of Coronavirus in Western Region.
