The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has evicted traders who returned to the streets of the main Central Business District after their relocation to the Racecourse during the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwah Ampem II.

The decongestion exercise was undertaken by a task force from the KMA in the morning of Monday, 8 January 2018.

The affected areas include Adum, Dr Mensah and Bantama among others.

The traders were seen on pavements at the Central Business District of Kumasi irrespective of the KMA notice to them to go back to the Racecourse before Monday, 8 January.

However, the traders insist they have no space at the Racecourse area to ply their trade.

Some of the sellers, who spoke to Adehye FM's Elisha Adarkwah, said the space at the Racecourse was allocated to the various trade associations neglecting those who do not belong to any of the associations.

They indicated that they will return to the streets after the exercise if the Assembly does not allocate space to them.
