The Assembly Member for Krutown-Nsuekyir in Prestea, Hon. Emmanuel Ennor Kwasi-Arthur has handed over a 57-WC toilet facility to residents of Prestea Krutown in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region.
The benevolent Assembly Member was joined by Nana Tenkorang, Odikro of Krutown Nsuekyir and opinion leaders on April 2, 2020, to perform the handing over ceremony.
The project was executed by Paacoh Company Limited with less than a year duration.
It will help the residents to stop engaging in open defecation.
Speaking to GhanaWeb's Western Regional Correspondent, Hon. Ennor Arthur stated that, the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly from 2017 agreed, all public toilets should be done under Public-Private Partnership (PPP), and that, the Assembly won’t use its meagre resources on such capital-intensive WC.
"I informed my community about this PPP initiative and how they can apply through me to get the project", he stated. In line with that, Mr. Edward got one of the projects at Nsuekyir, and he has put up 20-seater WC under PPP.
“The current one we are commissioning today was taken up by Paacoh Company Ltd, and it is a 57-Seater WC toilet with 6 bathrooms. The good news is that 3 out of the 57 WC have been reserved for Children, and is FREE” Hon. Ennor Arthur stressed.
The Assembly Member hailed the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Prestea Huni-Valley, Hon. Mozart Owuh for initiating the PPP initiative, Nana Tenkorang, Odikro of Krutown-Nsuekyir, Papa Akoh, Papa Amoadin, Uncle Kofi Mexico, Alhaji Mejimah, and late Nana Nda Amuzu for their great support to the project and contractor.
He concluded that "Prestea has a deficit in terms of such facilities and encourage other Electoral Areas to emulate the good example I have set, and get people take up such PPP initiative to contribute to the development of Prestea".
Some of the residents of the area commended the Assembly Member for his kind gesture and prayed for him to live long to continue to help them anytime the need arises.
They, therefore, promised to make good use of the toilet facility.
"We are happy today because this is unprecedented, Almighty God should bless him to live long and get more money, we will put this toilet facility into a good use", they expressed their happiness.
The facility being commissioned by the Assembly member
