Neenyi George Andah, Awutu-Senya Member of Parliament (MP), has called on his constituents to comply with the protocols and measures announced by government to protect themselves and others to stop the spread of COVID-19.
He said measures put in place by the government in line with the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) were to stem the spread of the disease and must be taken seriously.
Neenyi Andah made the call at the forecourts of the Awutu-Senya Health Directorate, where he presented a number of Personal Protection Equipments (PPEs) and other items estimated at GHC100,000.00
The items included 200 boxes of hand sanitizers, boxes of nose masks, boxes of hand gloves, four refrigerators, Veronica buckets, gallons of liquid soaps, metal beds and wheelchairs.
According to Neenyi Andah, the donation was to complement government’s efforts to contain the spread of the virus, adding that all must join in the crusade against the disease.
“Stay at home, adhere to the protocols, I need you, you need me, be safe since COVID-19 is real,” were some of the messages he delivered.
Dr. Patricia Antwi, Awutu-Senya District Health Director and a member of the District COVID-19 Logistics and Response team, who received the items thanked the MP for the support and assured that they will be used for the purpose for which they were donated.
“We need more of the PPEs such as, gun thermometers, examination and surgical gloves, nose masks and face shields,” she added.
Mr. Stephen Kwame Quaye, Awutu-Senya District Chief Executive, applauded the MP for the support and called for more support from philanthropists and organizations to help protect frontline workers.
