The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has reported a loss of GH¢3.7 million due to illegal power connections in the Northern Region.
Following legal action, NEDCo has managed to recover GH¢1.5 million from offenders.
NEDCo's Managing Director, Osman Ayuba, informed the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament that the company has issued 627 summonses to those involved in illegal connections, with 473 of these cases occurring in the Northern Region.
NEDCo's total estimated loss from power theft across all areas is GH¢4.1 million, with the majority stemming from the Northern Region.
