Dr. Emmanuel Tinkorang, Ashanti Regional Director of Health, is advocating for the recruitment of nurses to address the shortage in health facilities.
He highlighted the frustration of unemployed nurses in Ghana and emphasized the need for pragmatic steps to employ them.
Dr. Tinkorang suggested using the salaries of nurses who have left the country to fund the recruitment of those awaiting posting.
Additionally, he announced plans to operationalize new hospitals in the region, such as the Fomena hospital, as specialist hospitals to enhance healthcare services and reduce maternal and child mortality.
