The Bono Regional National Road Safety Authority has expressed concern over the increasing number of motorcyclists and passengers not wearing helmets, leading to a rise in accidents.
In the first quarter of 2024, there was a 130% increase in motorcycle-related accidents compared to the same period in 2023.
Out of 23 crashes, 17 victims were not wearing helmets. The authority attributes this to a lack of adherence to road traffic regulations and is intensifying public education efforts, working with stakeholders to enforce helmet laws and promote a safety culture.
Motorcyclists and passengers are urged to take responsibility for their safety.
