The Center for Social and Development Reform(CSD Reform) through the “HOPE Project" and with funding from the French Embassy in Ghana has donated some equipment to the Paralegal Unit of the Tamale Central Prison.
The donation done on April 8th, 2021 consisted of four(4) laptops and two(2) printers to facilitate the work of the Paralegal Unit of the Tamale Central Prison to effectively discharge their duties.
Speaking to the media after the donation, the Chief Executive Officer of the CSD Reform, David Y. Issaka indicated that the “HOPE project" is aimed at strengthening the paralegal unit of the prison service; done in a form of human resource capacity building and equipment support.
He added that under the human resource capacity building, a training assessment is carried out to identify their capacity gaps and have for the past few weeks provided training for eight of the paralegal officers of the Tamale central prison.
“Today we are handing over four sets of laptops and two printers to equipped the paralegal unit, to enable their case tracking and management."
Mr. David commended the French embassy in Ghana for the partnership and however expressed optimism that the paralegal unit of the Tamale central prison would put the equipment to good use.
“I wish to thank the French Embassy in Ghana for giving this support and I hope that the central prison would put the equipment to good use. So that on our next visit if we see that the equipment are been put to good use, am sure it would motivate our donor to provide us with other additional support."
Mr. Sapark Zooga, the Deputy Prison Commander of the Tamale Central prison upon receiving the donation expressed gratitude to the CSD Reform and the French embassy in Ghana for the noble gesture.
He promised that the equipment would be put to good use to facilitate and enhance their work.
He urged that the same gesture should be extended to other prison centers in the Northern Region to enhance their services too.
“Tamale Central Prison is committed and would always be ready to open our doors to CSD Reform and the French embassy in Ghana and any other donor who is prepared to come and help us."
