Tension is brewing in Sampa in the Jaman North constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region due to a delay in the arrival of electoral materials in the constituency for Wednesday’s general elections.

Although voting started at 7am across the country, as of 10:22am, voting had not started in Sampa due to a delay by the Electoral Commission (EC) in sending electoral materials to the polling station.

Accra News’ Emmanuel Okrah reported that both supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are livid, following their inability to cast their vote although they had been in a queue for hours.

According to him, the party agents have also been left stranded following the failure of officials of the EC to explain the cause of the delay to them.

Okrah further reported that the voters, although disappointed at the late start of voting, are still waiting for the arrival of the EC officials.

Ghanaians are voting to elect a new president and 275 members of parliament to manage the affairs of the country for the next four years.

Voting is expected to end at 5pm.
