Mpasaso (Ash), Nov. 20, GNA - Mr Paul Kwame Nimo, alias "Okokuroko", a trader at Mpasaso in the Ahafo-Ano South district has donated a gas lamp costing 300,000 cedis to the Mpasaso Local Authority Junior Secondary School as his personal contribution towards improving teaching and learning in the school. He expressed the hope that his donation will assist the teachers and pupils to prepare adequately for next year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Mpasaso Number Two on Wednesday, Mr Nimo said he was greatly saddened by the poor performance of the pupils last year and therefore decided to assist.

Flanked by Mr Martin Addae Asubonteng and Mr Seth Asabere, both assembly members at Mpasaso, Mr Nimo asked the people to co-operate with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and School Management Committee (SMC) to ensure that the pupils devoted their time to learning.

He appealed to the chiefs, assembly and area council members in the town to put forward suggestions that will address the problem of indiscipline in the town as it was undermining development.

Nana Ampofo Twumasi III, chief of Mpasaso Number Two, appealed to the district director of education to post teachers to the town and asked the people to unite and be committed towards the improvement of education as the only key to development. GNA
