Asiedu Nketiah has never been vindictive

Leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yamoah Ponkoh, has described the change in the party’s parliamentary leadership as simply a change without any political undertones.

He urged the public to disregard claims the National Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, ordered the reshuffle as pay back to some Members of Parliament (MP) for refusing to support his bid for chairmanship.

“I have never known the National Chairman of the party to be vindictive. Chairman-General Asiedu Nketia has been working diligently ever since his election and we hope he leads the party to victory in the election 2024. Those saying he is vindictive must stop. The reshuffle in parliament is just a change in leadership and nothing more.

There is nothing peculiar to this change. Ato Forson is a high-profile member of the party and deserves to be the party’s minority leader in parliament with Kofi Armah Buah as his deputy. We should not try and paint the chairman as vindictive. He is just doing his work and that’s all,” he told Don Kwabena Prah on Happy 98.9 FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk show.

Yamoah Ponkoh urged the public and party faithful to disregard claims the reshuffle will cause divisions in the NDC. “This is an internal party issue and not something we should make noise about. This is not going to cause any division in the party as no one is seeking to do anything of that sort. We are all trying to unite the party and the reshuffle is just an administrative measure and there is nothing wrong with it.”

The leadership of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has removed Harruna iddrisu as the Minority Leader.

He has been replaced with Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam lawmaker Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.

The party has also removed James Klutse Avedzi as Deputy Minority Leader. He has also been replaced with Ellembelle Member of Parliament Kofi Armah Buah.

The party says these changes form part of its reorganization process to reposition itself for the election 2024.
