GHANAIANS HAVE been encouraged to patronize made in Ghana products and foods in order to help bring life and energy into the economy.

Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister, making the call, cautioned that too much importation of foreign goods into the country would lead to disaster.

According to him, for the economy to bounce back and lead to prosperity for the citizenry and the state, the people should start patronizing made in Ghana goods.

Addressing participants of this year’s March 6th Independence Day parade in Kumasi, he said the Covid-19 has shown the need for the state to produce more.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has brought into sharp focus the need to increase the local production capacities of what we consume and also patronize them.

“By doing so, the country will reduce the importation of such products, increase foreign exchange earnings, help improve the stability of our currency.

“It would as well as accelerate both the employment and income generation capacities of the country. Let us produce and consume our own”, he indicated.

This year’s independence parade was on the theme ‘Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose’. It was graced by security agencies, schools and other bodies.

The Ashanti Regional Minister expressed happiness about the peace and unity in the country currently, and charged the people to do their utmost best to protect it.

He showered tons of praises on the various security agencies, including the military, police and others for their tireless efforts to maintain peace in the country.
