A member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Otchere-Darko has expressed hope that the reduction in fuel prices will last longer.

The former Executive Director of the Danquah Institue stated that in December 2022, Diesel sold at GHS23.43 and Petrol for GHS17.42.

As at, March 1, 2023, Diesel is selling at GHS13.49 and Petrol GHS13.19.

“We hope this is yet another sign that the economy is turning the corner. Long may it last!” Mr Otchere-Darko tweeted.

The Institute for Energy Security (IES) earlier projected a marginal drop in the prices of fuel.

IES projects the price of Gasoil to drop by about 4.26% from GH¢15.90 to about GH¢15.25 in the second week of the pricing window.

The price of liquefied petroleum gas was also expected to be pegged at GH¢13.51 per kilogram across the various LPG stations across the country during the pricing window under review.
