Ghanaian Churches Are Warming Up To Urban Gospel - MOG Music

Award-winning gospel musician and songwriter, Pastor Nana Yaw Boakye, also known as MOG Music, is happy that churches in Ghana are beginning to accept urban gospel music, a new trend that comes in the form of fast tempo beats and rhythms fused with rap.

Urban gospel music is unlike the traditional or established gospel music style, which has slow tempo beats.

Speaking on the special Easter edition of Asaase Café on Asaase 99.5 Accra, he said, “I think the appreciation of urban gospel music is better than before.”

“The kind of acceptance that urban music has, although it’s not there yet, it’s not where it used to be, so gradually the church is warming up to urban gospel music, especially the youth.

“So, the little mileage that God has given me, I’m using it to push the urban gospel brand because that’s the future of gospel music in Ghana,” he added.
