New Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has disclosed building a winsome side is one of his substantive targets for now before he even set sights on others after his official launching this morning.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday, March 20, announced the experienced tactician has signed a one-year contract to lead the Black Stars as head coach in a grand unveiling in Kumasi ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Hughton will be in charge of the senior national team of Ghana until 31st December 2024.

His two assistant coaches Didi Dramani and George Boateng have also inked a one-year contract each to be part of the Black Stars technical team.

Speaking to the media, the former Newcastle United manager stated he hoping to know how best each player can be to the team as he looks to establish a formidable side at the start before he turns his attention to fulfilling other aims.

"We want ton see a wining team. There will be a lot of questions. Are you offensive or defensive. Correct preparation of the teams," he said.

"Use the players to the best of their abilities. We start on the same level. Put together a group of players to play as a team and win matches."

The first assignment of the Irish-born Ghanaian tactician in the dug-out of the West African nation will be next week against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Ghana will host the Palancras Negras of Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, March 23 before travelling to Luanda on March 27 for the second leg tie.
