According to the Punch,Wasiu Adeyi, a scavenger popularly known as a scrap collector, reportedly killed one Abayomi Owoseni, 48 years of age, a car washer, on Babalola Street, Off Freedom Way, Ikate, in the Lekki neighbourhood of Lagos state by stabbing him multiple times as this ugly occurrence has put the deceased's relatives and loved ones in a state of abject sorrow.

Following the information acquired by news reporters, Abayomi was slain by Adeyi, who supposedly removed a knife from his possession during a serious quarrel between both parties and hacked the deceased.

Flashing back on the case, the son of the deceased, who goes by the name Abiodun, who was interviewed on Monday,12th December 2022 by newsmen disclosed that the sad occurrence transpired on Thursday,1st December 2022.

Narratively, with tears in his eyes, he disclosed, “that day, a man came to my workplace and asked to see me. He said he had been looking for me over something that happened to my father. I was sceptical about what he said and did not want to go with him, but a senior colleague promised to accompany me".

“To my shock, I got to the place where the incident happened and saw my father lying on the floor with blood everywhere. I inquired what happened and I was told that my father was in an argument with Adeyi when all of a sudden Adeyi brought out a knife and stabbed my father in the buttocks. When this happened, everyone fled".

“Some security men had arrived earlier and taken Adeyi to a police station while police officers later came to take the body", he stated.

On the other hand,Abiodun immediately filed a complaint regarding the incident to security authorities a report at the Ilasan Police Station in Lekki, after which the case was handed over to the State's Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Yaba as the deceased's son badly wanted to get justice for his father's demise.

“His body has been released to us and we have buried him. I want justice for my father; I want the family of the man that killed my father to pay for this loss", he revealed.

In the meantime,Elegushi Ismaila, who is the head security officer in the region, assured that he made sure that Adeyi was taken into custody for the vicious offence.

He noted, “someone told me that some people were fighting and one of them was killed. When I got there, I saw a dead man on the floor. The only help I could render at that time was to tell my guards to arrest the man that stabbed the person and take him to the station. I don’t know what transpired between them".

Conclusively, the state's Superintendent of Police, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who serves as the state police's public relations officer (PPRO), has verified the occurrence to the press, adding that professional police detectives are presently handling the case before the culprit would be charged to court for prosecution.
