Purity from Makueni in Kenya Painfully narrated how her husband cut off her hands in her parent's home after she refused to return to his home.
She was born and raised in Makueni. She dropped out of school after she got pregnant. Unfortunately, her mother died a few months after she delivered her child.
She later moved to Nairobi where she was employed. When her child was 4 years old she got married to a man she met while working there.
They stayed together for two years without being able to conceive despite her not using any contraceptives. She later learned her husband had another wife who stayed for ten years without conceiving and later left.
When she asked her husband about it he denied it and said that he is healthy claiming that she was the one who had a problem after failing to conceive. She asked him to accompany her to the hospital but he refused.
From that day, her husband started being violent and abusive. After a few months, she decided to go back to her parent's house where her father was staying. After one week he went to his father's place of work.
He bought him alcohol and asked him to let him take his wife. They went home at 8 pm and asked her to pack and go back to her home but she refused since it was at night and her father was drunk.
Her husband gave her father money and asked him to go and drink more alcohol. Her husband was left sitting in the living area. Purity and her child went to sleep. At 1 pm she heard someone on her bed yet she had locked the door.
The man had a machete which he used to cut her hands and her head. She screamed and the neighbours surrounded their house. He aimed to kill her.
She pretended to have died he later went outside and asked people to kill him since he had accomplished his mission.
She was taken to hospital but due to her condition she could hear the doctors saying she was dead She spoke to them and told them to cut the hands that were hanging since she was in pain. She was taken to the theatre. She stayed in the hospital for one month and was released.
No one wanted to live with her since she couldn't do anything on her own since she had no hands. The man who did the heinous act is in prison.
Her son later fell sick and died. She is now hosted by one of her cousins She is requesting people of goodwill to help her start a business to be able to earn money since she can't do anything for herself.
