Some Parts Of Your Body You Should Not Touch With Your Hands Regularly

Mon, 27 Mar 2023 Source: Ghana Trends

With the human body being composed of a myriad of intricate systems, parts of the body that need to be avoided in terms of contact with your hands is an important safety precaution, as well as one to promote overall health. This article will explore why it is necessary to avoid contact with certain parts of the body, and which body parts are best to leave untouched.

According to healthline, The reason why avoiding contact with certain body parts is a necessity is to keep away potential infection. The process of touching, whether done accidentally or knowingly, presents a risk of exposing and transferring the contents of your hands to those body parts. Contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, and fungal spores can quickly transfer to your skin and other parts of the body resulting in possible infection. Germs are known to breed quickly on certain body parts and as such, contact with these body areas can potentially lead to illness.

One of the most important parts of your body to avoid contact with your hands is your eyes. Not only is it important to avoid touching your eyes directly, but you should also be cautious of accidental contact. Your eyes are highly sensitive and even a tiny bit of contact can cause unwanted irritation, redness and inflammation. Furthermore, if you have an eye infection, your hands can quickly spread the bacteria and worsen the condition, even if you don’t realise it. To prevent this, it is important to always wash your hands regularly and use clean towels or tissues when wiping or rubbing your eyes.

Your mouth is also one of the body areas to be mindful of and should be something you handle with care. As saliva and other bodily fluids can be transferred to the hands through contact, it is essential to practise proper hygiene when handling such areas. This includes washing your hands thoroughly after handling and drinking items, as well as using a straw or spoon when drinking from a cup. It is also important to avoid putting your finger directly in your mouth and instead, use a spoon or other clean utensils when eating.

Your ears should also be handled with care. Poking your finger inside your ear, even if done in an attempt to clean it, can push earwax further back into the ear canal and cause a blockage. If the wax is not removed safely and properly by a healthcare professional, it can cause problems such as dizziness, earache and tinnitus. In order to prevent any potential ill effects, it is recommended to use a cotton bud only if necessary, and to never put anything inside your ear canal.

Another body part to be cautious of is your nose. When it comes to your nose, digging or picking it is ill-advised as this can not only spread infection, but can also damage the sensitive skin inside the nose. Furthermore, it is important to wash your hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer before and after handling your nose. This helps to prevent the spread of the virus and germs, as well as keep your nose clean and healthy.

Finally, areas such as your genitals, armpits, buttocks and feet should all be avoided when it comes to contact with your hands. As these locations can be exposed to bacteria and viruses, it is best to limit contact with your skin and practice safe hygiene methods. This includes regularly washing your hands after going to the toilet and before handling food, and wearing flip-flops when showering to prevent the spread of bacteria and fungi.

In conclusion, it is important to avoid contact with certain parts of the body, as this can lead to potential infection, illness and other complications. The body parts which should be avoided include your eyes, mouth, ears, nose and the below-mentioned delicate areas. Practising proper hygiene and following advice such as washing your hands regularly and using clean utensils when handling food, is the best way to prevent the spread of infection to your body.
