Nana Tano Kabaah, Chief of Enchi Kwawu and Akwamuhene of Aowin Traditional Council has bemoaned the terrible condition of the Enchi-Elubo road.
According to the traditional ruler, the poor condition of the road has hampered business activity in the impacted communities.
He stated that, even though the road was awarded for a contract, the contractor abandoned the project due to debt.
He was particularly concerned that citizens in the impacted areas would have difficulty accessing adequate healthcare because the route was impassable.
He said that some pregnant women in the neighbourhood had died because they were unable to get to the hospital on time owing to the bad condition of the route.
“The road is in awful condition. The contractor was giving it his all, yet he abruptly stopped working on the job. When confronted, the contractor claimed that they had not been paid and hence abandoned the project. Every blessed day, a car gets damaged on the road due to poor maintenance. We are concerned and have petitioned the authorities to act and complete the road.
