And, let’s not get into the fact that they can FLY too (the horror)! Households are easy targets for these pesky creatures and they mostly infest the kitchen or anywhere they think they can thrive. It’s no wonder people always search for home remedies for cockroaches.

The use of baking soda to get rid of cockroaches is a trusted and trusted process, it can be used in two ways.

Sprinkling Just Baking Soda

Sprinkling baking soda around the kitchen sink and bathroom drain can rid your house of cockroaches. The strong smell of baking soda is known to drive away cockroaches. Here’s what you can do: Dissolve 2 teaspoons of baking soda in one cup of lukewarm water and then pour this mixture into all the outlets and waterways in your home.

Baking soda and sugar is a tried-and-tested natural way to kill roaches. The pests are attracted to the smell of the sugar, while the baking soda ensures they won't survive. when the roach drinks water, the baking soda reacts, creating gas inside of the roach which causes its stomach to burst, killing the roach. Since other roaches feed on dead roaches, they also acquire the fatal substance and subsequently die. Follow these steps to use sugar and baking soda to kill roaches in your home:

(a) Use a small dish or a gallon milk jug lid.

(b) Mix equal parts of sugar and baking soda into the dish or lid. This is your bait.

(c) Set another dish or lid close by, containing water.

(d) When you see dead roaches around the bait, replenish the bait and water.

(e) Set these bait and water dishes behind appliances, inside of cupboards and pantries, in the garage, and anywhere you might suspect roaches to live and breed.
