“A New Dawn Is Coming”: Former CU SRC President nominated for PUSAG President

Everyone had dreams and aspirations growing ups, what they would like to do and to whom they will pledge their allegiance. It is of no difference to a man who decided to dedicate his life to the service of other people while growing up.




While heading Central University’s SRC for the 2021/2022 academic year as SRC President, Mr Daniel Botchway was of the considered opinion that, the Private Universities Students’ Association of Ghana (PUSAG) can become one of the foremost voices for students’ leadership and change in Africa. Having played some key roles in youth and student leadership, Daniel has identified the numerous challenges of the association and aspires to influence tremendous change.

“Private university students have numerous challenges and we need to package and articulate these concerns to the government and civil society to court the necessary support for our member PUSAG institutions,” he stated.

The 38-year-old General Manager of Yijiemor Farmhouse, Mr Daniel Botchway is certain about his dream to become the next PUSAG President, launching into the race as one of the nominees for the position.

Being able to harness a lot of skills from various roles played in the corporate and social world, it is without a doubt that Daniel Botchway is the right man for the Job; the PUSAG President 2022, hopeful.

In his quest to cause a massive change, he has framed his motto as “A Dawn Is Coming!”

LIFE

Daniel is a strong Christian and is a family man, motivated by two (2) things in life; his faith and his family. According to him, his faith teaches him to be diligent, honest, faithful, proactive and consistent, “I move through life knowing that I am accountable to God in all I do; including everything I do in secret,”

Despite life battles and challenges, Daniel is able to progress in life with the mere thought that his family is his backbone. “My family is always there for me no matter what happens and thus motivates me to get back on my feet when things go south,” he stated.

Due to the virtue of service, he volunteered himself to work with some organisations and engaged in community service on various occasions. Such as; he is an executive member of St. Peters Anglican Church; Ofankor-Accra. School Management Committee (SMC), played the role of the Central University Student Representative Council; and led in the organisation and execution of outreach programs in numerous towns from Bono, Ahafo, Central, Volta, and Northern Regions.

EDUCATION

From basic school, Daniel continued his education journey at Tema Senior High School and later studied at Central University where he graduated with a BSC. Administration, (Human Resource Management option). In 2014, he pursued a PG Cert. in Accounting and Finance at the University of Northampton, UK. He has also been awarded a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) at Central University where he pursued the course from 2019 to July 2022.

CAREER OR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Daniel commenced his career as a senior administrative assistant for the Vision and Legacy unit at Central University in 2007 where he worked for 10 years. His career continued in the same institute as a Human Resource Assistant for another 2years and later moved to Lexville Consult Gh. Ltd as a Head of Human Capital functioning as the main HR. He started his own farming business in 2018 creating employment for others. He resigned from his role at Lexville Consult Gh. Ltd to fully manage his business full-time where he holds the position of General Manager to date.
