3 Practical Values of Education We All Enjoyed!!!

Mon, 28 Mar 2022 Source: Michael Djan

“It is only the ignorant who despise education.” —Publilius Syrus, Moral Sayings, first century B.C.E.

Despite challenges in our Educational System today such as lack of teaching equipment, lack of motivated and passionate Teachers, unemployment, even when we get employed, our miserable pay cannot afford a family of two, yet we cannot despise Education. As students, we still need to focus on its practical value to get motivated and study hard. The fact is, in order to be motivated in any endeavor, you need to see its practical value.

So, WHAT is the practical value of school? Let us pinpoint 3 practical values in Education.

-Thinking Ability

Going to school has helped many of us to develop what we call “common sense”. Yes, Education has help us to acquire some sort of knowledge and wisdom. Acquiring those skills related to thinking ability has helped us to solve our own problems instead of always having to rely on others to bail us out.

-Social Skill

How so? To illustrate: Imagine that you are walking through a dangerous neighborhood. Which would you prefer—to be walking alone or to be with a group of friends who could protect you if necessary? Of course, I will walk with a group of friends who could protect me. With Education, we have had several strong “Friends” always at our side. Some of those friends have linked their classmates to job opportunities in life.

Truly speaking, mixing with a variety of people at school has given us plenty of opportunity to master these qualities such as tolerance, respect and understanding—traits that serve us very well today when dealing with other colleagues at our work place.

-Practical Training

School has taught us the value of having a strong work ethic in the form of either Academic, Vocational Studies or learn additional language such as French which have helped us to get a job and keep it in order to assist and care for our family’s material needs. Also, because of the globalization, the more we learn about the world around us, the better equipped we become to people around us.

-The lesson:

A good Education equips a person for a better life. In this critical time, an Educated person has many advantages over someone who has little Education. Being realistic about life, we must acknowledge the value of secular Education in gaining the necessary skill with a view to be more ready to fill actual demands in the job market.

Please share with us other practical value of school you enjoyed.
