Some candidates who sat for the just-ended BECE for School have registered displeasure over their results saying they want their scripts to be remarked. In this post, we will show you how to apply for script remarking of any examination.
The Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said candidates after two months after the release of the BECE results can request for a remarking or review of the national examination scripts or papers.
“Every candidate has the right to appeal if, for some reason not satisfied with the result, we have a system in place for the students to make an appeal two months after the results are released online,” a staff of WAEC told EducationWeb.
He said students who want their scripts reviewed are to make the appeal only at the nearest office of the West African Exams Council and not through any third party or individual who claims to be a staff of the Examinations Council.
“Scripts are kept for three months after the release of results before they are finally destroyed. During this time, review of scripts for a fee is allowed and this is done at the instance of the Head of school,” he explained in a discussion.
How to apply for 2021 BECE script remarking at WAEC office
1. If you are a private BECE candidate, visit the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) office in your region. School candidates are to discuss with their head of Junior High School and explain why their script should be remarked.
2. Provide evidence you sat for a particular examination (Eg. BECE)
3. A non-refundable fee is to be paid before the script review process.
Please take note that the Management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) by policy does not undertake a review of scripts at the instance of candidates, parents, guardians, or persons claiming to act “in loco parentis.”
The non-profit-making organization responsible for conducting international and national examinations also reserves the right to approve or reject the examination script remarking complaints by a candidate or head of school.
