Meet Kazuyoshi Miura is a Japanese/Brazilian professional player. He is almost 55 years old. Most people not in football alone but in an everyday job would be looking towards retirement by that age, and almost every footballer will long to hung up his boots at the age of 40-45 years or sometimes less.
But even now, Miura continues to displays his skills on the field of football and the oldest professional footballer the world has ever seen.
Kazuyoshi began his football career in junior high school at Shizuoka Gakuen High School in 1982, where he was born in Shizuoka, Japan. It was also the same year that he joined Juventus-SP after dropping out of Shizuoka Gakuen High School after just one year. With his fifteen-year-old self, he eventually left the club and relocated to Brazil in order to pursue a professional football career there.
It was at this point that he signed his first professional deal with Santos of Brazil. It was thirty-two years ago when Kazuyoshi returned to his native Japan after stints with numerous other Brazilian clubs, including Palmeiras and Matsubara.
The Japanese international player Miura has spent the past 16 years of his career playing for Yokohama, celebrating both his 40th and 50th birthday with the club.
Kazuyoshi is the oldest goal scorer in the Japanes-League, the longest-serving professional footballer in the world, and the oldest active footballer in the world as of 2022.
