There is a Ghanaian President who was in power for less than a month. This may seem strange to many but Ghana had a president who was in power for 24 days. His name is “Nii Amaa Ollenu.”

Who was Nii Amaa Ollenu?

Raphael Nii Amaa Ollennu was a jurist and judge who became a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana from 1962 to 1966. He was the acting President of Ghana during the Second Republic from 7 August 1970 to 31 August 1970 and the Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana from 1969 to 1972.

He took over from the previous military leader, Lt. Gen. Afrifa and handed over on 31 August 1970 to Edward Akufo-Addo.

Who Was Edward Akufo-Addo

Edward Akufo-Addo was a Ghanaian politician and lawyer. He was a special assistant to Dr. Busia and member of the "Big Six" leaders of the United Gold Coast Convention and one of the founding fathers of Ghana who engaged in the fight for Ghana's independence.

He became the Chief Justice, and later President in the Second Republic of Ghana.
