This article seeks to address concerns raised by many teachers on their promotion and when they will be put on scale. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that lower-rank teachers will be promoted very soon this year (2022).
A communique sighted on GNAT National Telegram platform indicates that, management of the GES is aware of the concerns raised by teachers, especially those at the lower rank level. It assured that they are working to make amends as soon as possible.
GES also revealed that teachers at the following ranks: teacher, senior superintendent II and have gone through all the necessary and required procedures. Thus, those whose work has been inspected will have their documents processed and salary adjustments made.
Date for Promoted Teachers to Be Put On Scale
In addition, the GES indicated that the verification is almost completed and management wishes to announce to teachers that the processing of payment will commence in May 2022.
Therefore, teachers who fall in this category are expected to receive a salary adjustment by the end of July 2022.
GES Lower Rank Promotion Background
The Ghana Education Service (GES) in 2021 requested for applications from its staff who were due for promotion. It was basically to promote teachers at the lower ranks (mainly from SS II to SS I). Due to the pandemic outbreak, the GES could not supervise the workers of qualified staff who applied at the appropriate time hence the delay in effecting promotions.
