Our current educational system in our country has led Ghanaians devastated. Ghanaians believe our current education system has been declining compared to other West African countries.

According to the records from the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), Ghana and their counterpart Nigerians were always performing very well in Africa, but now it seems things have changed, Nigerians are always on top of Core-mathematics, Elective, and Science.

Reacting about this issue, Minister of Education was interviewed on Citi TV Morning Show and he was asked by the Host why our educational system is declining. According to Hon. Dr. Adutwum, Ghana education system was damaged since 1987 when our education was restructured and divided into two the Junior High School and Senior High School.

The Education Minister explained further his point by saying, “Nigerian system of education from Junior High to Senior High School go straight in the same school without writing any BECE. The only exam they write is the WASSCE. Due to that, it has helped their education system to be strong more than our system of education because they don't change schools and teachers.”

Contrary to Ghana, students have to write BECE exams and after they will spend a couple of months at home before they will gain admission to Senior High school which is time-wasting.

With his final point, the Minister of education, added that the ministry is working hard to restructure our education system again.
