The West Akyem Municipal Director of Education in the Eastern Region, Mrs. Eunice Amfo Akonnor has charged Early Childhood Education Teachers in the public sector to speak English with pupils in school to help them to be useful to it before they grow.

Speak English to KG Students

According to her, most Private Schools have been using the English language to communicate with a pupil at the kindergarten and it is helping kids, unlike public schools where some of the teachers use local dialect to communicate with the pupil.

Speaking at the Commissioning of Refurbished Saint Theresa’s Kindergarten in Asamankese, Mrs. Eunice Amfo Akonnor noted that parents use local dialect to communicate with the pupil at home so there is the need for teachers who handles kindergarten pupil to use English to lay the good and better foundation and improve upon reading and writing.

She called on all stakeholders in education to support early childhood Education Teachers to lay a good foundation for future leaders of the country.

The local manager of Catholic Schools in West Akyem Municipal, Reverend Father James Buah- Nkwantabisa lauded Teachers who have accepted to specialize in early childhood education and called on parents to support them to inculcate good moral values into them.

He said it takes a big heart to shape little minds and said kindergarten Teachers are like doctors who do surgery on the brain.

The priest said children are fast in learning; therefore, teachers should be mindful of words they use in presence of the Children and continue to be role models.
