Fri, 10 Jun 2022 Source: Michael Djan

A four nation tournament which includes Ghana, Japan, Chile and Tunisia will be played in Japan and the Black Stars start their game with the host, Japan today. Depending on the results, Ghana will meet Chile or Tunisia for either first place or the third place match. Sad news is that Ghana’s squad has been reduced to an 18-man squad due players leaving camp.

A number of the Ghanaian players have been affected by COVID-19 while some are attending to other matters of equal importance. These matches are supposed to serve as preparatory games for the team’s campaign in the upcoming world cup in Qatar and it is a bit of a challenge seeing the coach would have wanted to make an assessment of some players. The 18-man squad is listed below;

-Goalkeepers

Lawrence Ati Jigi (FC St. Gallen / Switzerland) Abdul Manaf Nurudene (KAS Eupen / Belgium)

-Defenders

Mubarak Wakaso (Shenzhen FC / China) Andrew Yiadom (Reading FC / England) Abdul Rahman Baba (Reading FC / England) Daniel Amatei (LeicesterCity / England) Dennis Nkrumah Korsah (Hearts Of Oak / Ghana) Alidu Seidu (Clermont Foot 63 / France)

-Midfielders

Andre Morgan Ayew (Alsad / Qatar) Edmund Addo (FC Sheriff Tiraspol / Moldova) Abdul Fatawu (Sporting Lisbon / Portugal) Kudus Mohammed (Ajax Amsterdam / Netherlands) Christopher Antwi (SC Padderborn 07 / Germany).

-Forwards

Jordan Pierre Ayew (Crystal Palace / England) Kwesi Okyere Wriedt (Holstein Kiel / Germany) Benjamin Tetteh (Jeni Malatya Spor / Turkey) Daniel Afriyie Barnieh (Hearts of Oak / Ghana) Felix Ohene Afena Gyan (AS Roma / Italy).
