Government recruited Teachers who had completed various Teacher Training Colleges and had undergone the mandatory National Service and to qualify them for posting to various schools across the country.

However, these teachers after teaching for some months have not received their salaries.

This has brought untold hardship on their lives because they cannot take care of their families and themselves.

For that matter, the Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has ordered the Ghana Education Service (GES) to speed up the processes for the issuance of staff ID numbers to newly recruited teachers.

This is will enable them to be placed on the payroll in order to receive their salaries.

His call comes following reports in a section of the media that some newly recruited teachers have not been paid a few months after being posted, due to a lack of staff ID numbers to be used for the payment processes.

Speaking in an interview sighted by myjoyonline, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Yaw Opoku Mensah, stated that it was based on this development that the Education Minister urged the GES to speed up the processes for the affected teachers to be hooked up to the payroll system for payment.
