Four teacher unions; The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) and Coalition of Concerned Teachers-Ghana (CCT-G) laid down their tools on Monday, July 4, following government’s failure to pay the allowance for them, which they say could have helped to alleviate the impact of the rising cost of living.

The Managing Director of Intercity STC Coaches Limited, Nana Akomea reacts to the teachers who are on strike despite the plea from the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In an interview with Peace FM, Nana Akomea, disclosed it is about time that the teachers have to wait patiently for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to finish with his engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for change to happen in this country.

Nana Akomea tells the teachers that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has heard their plea and has begged for them to call off the strike otherwise the academic calendar will retard progress but they fail to listen.

Nana Akomea then said that the president respects the teachers a lot and therefore, he wishes to invite them into his office to open up what he together with his ministers are going through despite their positions in the country.

Nana Akomea believes the teachers will give the president maximum respect and obey whatever he says when they are invited into his office.
