Stephen Leroy Appiah is a Ghanaian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. In May 2017 Stephen Leroy Appiah was named by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as a technical member of the team after retiring from football. He captained Ghana at the World Cup debut in 2006 and at the 2010 World Cup respectively.

According to the information we gathered from “Sportsworldghana.com” website, it revealed that the former Ghana captain is not in smooth relationship with the Kurt Okraku led administration hence the decision to reject the appointment as a member of the management committee of the Black Stars.

Sportsworldghana added that according to their trusted sources from the camp of the former Ghana player, Appiah’s rejection is why he failed to join the newly constituted management committee to Kumasi for the Ghana vs Nigeria game.

Meanwhile, other sources disclosed the ex-captain of Black Stars and the former Juventus CF player wants to focus on other things for now and hence his decision to turn down the offer from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Despite his decision not to serve as a management committee member, many believe his leadership quality is needed to help the national team in various capacities especially during FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar 2022.
