Alexia Putellas is the winner of the Ballon d'Or Feminin 2022. Alexia Putellas of Barcelona was declared the winner of the women's Ballon d'Or for the second time in her career during an awards event in Paris.

For the second time in her professional career, Alexia Putellas has been named female player of the year. She is the first footballer to have received the award twice, and only Ada Hegerberg and Megan Rapinoe have ever done so. Only two people have ever won it: Megan Rapinoe and Ada Hegerberg.

After a great season for Barcelona, the 28-year-old player triumphed over the other 19 nominees for the award. For the first time, the trophy was awarded based on the season (2021-22) rather than the calendar year. To determine the winner of the competition, votes from football journalists, national team coaches, and captains are counted.

The midfielder led all scorers in the Champions League with 11 goals, although her club, Barcelona, finished second after losing 3-1 to Lyon in the championship match. In addition, she scored 18 goals and assisted on 17 others as Barcelona's women's team strolled to the league title by winning all 30 of their matches. During the course of the season, they scored 159 goals while allowing only 11 to be scored against them.

Putellas' season was cut short when she tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the penultimate training session before the Euro 2022 competition, which England went on to win. Barcelona and Spain will both be keen for her to return after her year-long absence as soon as she is physically capable. She is a crucial member of the Spanish national team, which has become even more important after 15 players withdrew their names from consideration for selection due to conflicts with coach Jorge Vilda.
