The adage that toubles hardly goes after human beings but it is human beings who rather chases troubles for themselves' manifested itself at Manhyia Palace the officials seat of the the occupant of the Golden Stool Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Monday October 31 2022.
On the fateful day Otumfuo took the opportunity to ban four groups at Barekese who have been allegedly using chieftaincy matters to disrupt peace of the town.
Otumfuo also known as King Solomon used the occasion to brief the four groups who are staying at Barekese the capital city of the Atwima Nwabiagya North District about their history and the need for them to promote peace and unity whilst they live in there.
The four groups that Asantehene mentioned them are the alleged representatives of Bantamahene, Asiakwahene, Atipihene and Ankwabiahene respectively.
His Royal Majesty hinted that the aforementioned chiefs came to him and pleaded for a place to settle their subjects at Barekese which was then he Asantehene had given out to Anantahene.to take care of it.
Asantehene related that upon allowing the chiefs to accommodate their subjects he never gave anyone the mandate to install any chief to represent them at Barekese.
Though a liberty was given to them to farm on the lands to earn their living.
Therefore whilst the town continue to grow under the care of Anantahene everyone occupying the land was expected to channel his or her grievances to Anantahene for attention.
According to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II he legitimately installed Nana Amoapem Brenya I as a substantial chief of Barekese to take charge of the development of the town about three years ago.
Otumfuo said as a custodian of the Barekese town no one was known to him as a true royal who can occupy the Barekese stool expect the family members of Nana Brenya I.
Therefore he installed Nana Brenya I as Barekesehene after going through a successful traditional processes.
Asantehene said he was taken aback when after the enstoolment of Nana Brenya I the four groups who have nothing to do with the royal issues of the town rose up against the chief.
First l thought that the new Barekesehene was allegedly imposing himself on the people or selling lands so l decided to discipline him when l get to know that the allegations are true.
But to my surprise the issue was far different, Otumfuo intoned.
The actions of the four groups Asantehene reiterated resulted into uncontrollable tension to such an extent that number of alleged hired youth who were involved in the confusion were arrested by the police.
Otumfuo said to ensure that peace and unity prevail at Barekese he personally intervened for bail for the accomplices even though he knows he knows the people who were behind the violence at Barekese and was even ready to expose them.
In their appearance before Otumfuo on Monday October 31st 2022 at Manhyia Palace Asantehene made it clear to the four groups that non of them should nominate to install a chief to represent them at Barekese.
With immediate effect l have banned anyone who would call himself as a chief or sub chief of Barekese expect Nana Amoapem Brenya I.
Barekese belongs to me so if you are a man go back to Barekese and violate my orders and you will incur my wrath, the King told the groups.
Adding that Nana Amoapem Brenya I is the only legitimate chief of Barekese l know, he is coming there and if you are a man you can try him.
Mincing no words King Solomon as he is affectionately called told the groups that Bantamahene, Asiakwahene, Atipihene and Ankwabiahene who came and pleaded on your behalf have no share of property at Barekese.
And how much more you can
struggle for lands and chieftaincy positions whilst you are aware that you are a stranger according to history.
Having sealed the Barekese chieftaincy conflicts with the recognition of Nana Amoapem Brenya I as a legitimate chief in the presence of all the affected chiefs, Otumfuo made a history.
Otumfuo said for the fact that the groups have been grossly erred he don't want them to feel hungry whilst they stay at Barekese.
The Great King asked some of his top ranking chiefs to as a matter of urgency engage the service of Surveyors to Barekese on demarcation mission to find out the portions of lands that belong to the groups.
And find out how much they have been sold and unsold ones for documentary purpose to enable. them have access to it.
After all these Nana Amoapem Brenya I being the Barekesehene would be the authorized person to sign allocation papers.
And again their overload chiefs should not be allowed to interfere in any portion of lands that the Surveyors would be handed over to them Otumfuo insisted.
Asantehene concluded that with immediate effect the groups should always serve their overloads chiefs been Bantamahene Asiakwahene, Atipihene and Ankwabiahene .
And bear in mind that they have nothing to do with the issues that relate to the Barekese Stool lands.
Considering Otumfuo's decision as laudable the group jointly thanked Asantehene for his kind advise and assured to cooperate to ensure peace and unity towards the development of Barekese and it's surrounding areas.
